How to use Upwind

Keep this open in its own window alongside your dashboard while you set up — it'll stay put so you can follow along step by step.

1

Create your account with an email and password. It's free to start — no card needed until you decide to upgrade.

2

Upload your CV and write a general bio

On the Profiletab, upload your CV and write your general cover letter (the one you'd send to any boat) covering your experience, certifications, and what you're looking for. This is the raw material every cover letter gets written from, so the more real detail you give it, the better — specific vessels, certs, dates, not just job titles.

3

Set your search criteria

On the Criteriatab, set the kind of role you want — position, department, vessel size, location, and the rest. It's saved permanently on your account, so you never have to re-enter it.

4

Add the recruitment agencies you already use

On the Agenciestab, paste in the agencies you're already registered with, along with their real website. If a job you scan or land turns out to be posted by someone not on your list, Upwind flags it in red so nothing slips through — you can add them on the spot from that flag.

5

Install the Chrome extension

This is what lets Upwind actually read job pages and fill in cover letters — it only works from a desktop Chrome browser, not a phone. Set it up here (about two minutes).

6

Pick a plan

Start on the Free plan — a one-off starter allowance of scans and cover letters, to see Upwind work on your own jobs. See how it feels day to day, then get Pro from the Plan card on your Hometab once you're relying on it and want automatic checks, phone alerts and more cover letters: a 1-day pass, a 7-day pass, Monthly, or the Season Pass.

7

Use New Matches every day

New matches land in your Matches tab automatically, best-match first. Click Review to read the AI-written cover letter, then Land it & submitto actually apply — Upwind never submits anything you haven't looked at first. Anything you haven't gotten to within 24 hours moves to Archiveon that same tab, where it's auto-discarded after the time limit you set (1 day up to 1 month) unless you apply or discard it yourself first.
